Exams & Cleanings
Our dental hygienists are committed to your oral health. Our hygienists are here to educate and give you the resources you need to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Their goal is to help you preserve your teeth by preventing new cavities and treating periodontal disease.
To return destroyed or lost tooth structure to full form and function we must restore it with a filling or crown. If it is a small portion of tooth, we can generally fix it with a filling. There are two types of materials:
Amalgam: Silver filling material, dental amalgam is an alloy made up of mercury, silver, tin, and copper. The mercury combines with the other metals in the amalgam to make it stable and safe.
Composite: Tooth coloured material so the fillings don’t show. composite is a mixture of plastic and glass, which bonds to the rest of the tooth.
Crowns & Bridges
The terms dental crowns and caps are synonymous. Crowns are typically used to restore and protect a tooth. They are necessary when a tooth is cracked, broken, discolored or severely decayed. A bridge may be used to replace missing teeth, help maintain the shape of your face, and alleviate stress on your bite. Both Crowns & Bridges are made from metal and/or porcelain.
Wisdom Tooth Removal & Extractions
Sometimes teeth are non-restorable. In other circumstances, certain dental infections can affect your overall health and wellness. In addition if your wisdom teeth (third molars) don’t grow in correctly they can cause severe problems to your mouth, jaw, gums and surrounding teeth. In these situations we’ll have to remove these teeth to improve your oral health. From simple to complicated extractions, Dr. Rinquinha is here to help take care of the issue at hand and make sure you understand the reasoning behind the procedure.
Root Canal Therapy
If the nerve of a tooth becomes infected or the pulp becomes damaged, a root canal needs to be performed in order to save the tooth and prevent further damage to the surrounding areas. During a root canal procedure, the nerve and the pulp are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. Thanks to modern technology, today’s root canals are quick and painless.
